Financial education for students in Tuzla
On Tuesday, 26th November 2019, Tuzla’s Youth House hosted a student workshop titled “How to be a responsible user of financial services”. As a part of the Banking Agency of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBA), the Banking System Ombudsperson – Lejla Smajović, informed the workshop participants about protection mechanisms the ombudsmen provide and their roles and competences.
Denoting practical examples she has been facing in her daily work, Ms. Smajović also mentioned some of the rights and responsibilities resulting from the use of financial products and services in the segment of natural persons.
“Protection of financial service users is one of key systems to preservation of a sound economy and living standards of our citizens. In today’s world, timely information and education of our citizens should be especially emphasized as financial products and services are getting increasingly accessible and complex” – clarified Ms. Smajović.
The students in Tuzla, as future users of financial products and services, have especially appreciated responsiveness of the lecturer and interaction through which they learnt for the first time information from the finance area.
"I appreciate the information we received today through this presentation. I will have a chance to use this information very soon as I plan to launch my own small business after I graduate” – pointed out one of the participants.
The workshop was organized in cooperation with the Tuzla City Administration, as a part of the financial education within the “Micro Finance in B&H” Project led by IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, and supported by the Swiss Embassy in B&H.
