Financial Literacy Educational Workshops for Teens
As a part of the service-oriented activities and promotion of financial education Lejla Smajović, the Banking System Ombudsman in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina held two educational workshops on 04 October 2018 for high-school students and teachers of the High school of business, commercial and trade Sarajevo.
Lejla Smajović, the Banking System Ombudsman in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) visited the school and presented the work of the Institute. The workshop was the opportunity to inform students on general characteristics of financial institutions and their products, as well as obligations of banks and their rights to protects users. Also, it was a firsthand opportunity to learn what young people expect from the offered financial products.
The interactive workshops with the Banking System Ombudsman, for the first time offered the opportunity to students to get answers to the numerous questions from the competent person, thus will significantly contribute to their future financial decisions.
“Provision of the financial education service and promotion of good practices is an important segment in implementation of the Banking System Ombudsman competences, but at the same time it is contribution to the financial sector stability. Promotion of the knowledge and positive practices on financial products and services, same as mechanisms of users rights protection, is also promotion and contribution to the better financial inclusion of young people into financial sector”, said Lejla Smajović , the Banking System Ombudsman of FBiH, at the end of training.
The education of high-school students is implemented by the Institute of Banking System Ombudsman FBiH and Project “Microfinance in BiH” implemented by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), member of the World Bank Group, and supported by the Embassy of Switzerland in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
