Panel posvećen BiH

The conference organized by the “Transatlantic Leadership Network” and called “Impact of Elections in the Western Balkan and the Middle East” was held on November 13, 2018 in the U.S. Capitol Building.

In the panel dedicated to BiH - “What is the next for BiH: Is the Reform Agenda still alive?” panelists were Jasmin Mahmuzić, Director of the Banking Agency of the FBiH (FBA) and Dalibor Miloš, Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of Aluminum, along to Eric Carlson, Senior Advisor for Reforms in BiH at the State Department, and Gretchen Birkle, USAID Deputy Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia.

- The current state reveals all inefficiencies and address the need for more dynamic actions and setting up the targets that must be implemented in short time, for a maximum period of four years.  We don’t have a time to be wasted and new documents and agendas are needed to be used by new governments, immediately when formed.  We can call it “Reform Agenda II” or give it other name. We have to address the issue of faster economic growth, youth unemployment, as well as systemic action against corruption, said Jasmin Mahmuzić, FBA Director adding that in the past two years there has been either a slowdown in the process of reforms or complete shutdown.

During his speech, FBA Director Mahmuzic spoke on successful model which can be applied in different areas.

- The changes we had in the segment of banking regulations, resulted in a new profile of the banking system. Today, we can claim that our banking system is harmonized with the relevant Basel principles, apropos the profile and needs of the system. With support of our partners, and especially the USAID, the IMF and the World Bank, we have developed capacities and framework for further support of banking system development and maintaining of stability. Also, we work on development of framework for crisis, as for individual institution as well for the system as a whole, he said.

The conference was organized under the sponsorship of United States Senator Roy Blunt.
