The Banking Agency of the Federation of BiH awarded the students of the School of Economics and Business at the University of Sarajevo for success at the International ProBanker Competition
The Banking Agency of the Federation of BiH presented today the suitable awards to the students of the School of Economics and Business at the University of Sarajevo, for third place at the International Competition on Banking Management. The award-winning team was consisted of four selected students from the School of Economics and Business: Anes Torlaković, Hana Hadžić, Emir Ademović and Damir Marilović, under the mentorship of prof.dr Velid Efendić and assistance provided by Anes Prentić, teaching assistant and the coordinator on the Bank Game simulation, who is also awarded. In this extremely strong world competition, the first two places went to the Hofstra University New York and University of Massachusetts from the USA.
“I am happy because we supported this way the students who, with their knowledge, work and determination, succeeded to be among the top three at this prestigious competition. This is the occasion to express congratulations on behalf of the Agency and wish them many successes in further studying”, said Jasmin Mahmuzić, Director of the Banking Agency of the FBiH.
On this occasion, Team leader Anes Torlaković stated:
“On behalf of the team, I would like to give a thanks to the Banking Agency of the FBiH and Director Mahmuzić, for recognizing our success. The award will be stimulus for our future work. It was a great honour to participate on this level competition and at the same time demonstrate a theoretical and practical knowledge, acquired at the School of Economics and Business at the University of Sarajevo. Innovations in the educational processes are inevitably indeed, and our mentor prof.dr. Velid Efendić, has offered a new platform for improvement of theoretical and practical knowledge in the banking management, through introduction of the banking simulations. We are very satisfied with our ranking and we hope that in the future our Faculty will achieve even better results." Banking management simulation game has been successfully in place at the School of Economics and Business at the University of Sarajevo for many years. Under the subject „The Banking Management “, students have an opportunity to participate in simulation of the banking management, and the software allows them to make adequate decisions, to plan the banking strategy, to analyse the market and feel banking-management in the virtual environment, during the semester and through the 12 simulated quarter of the Bank's work.oday’s reception was attended by distinguished guests from the School of Economics and Business at the University of Sarajevo, prof.dr Meliha Bašić Vice-Dean for Finance and prof.dr Velid Efendić the associate professor at Department for finance.
The Banking Agency of the Federation of BiH will continue to support projects, which are of importance for the existing banking sector, as well as reward the work of the very best students.
